Liver cirrhosis and latent liver failure as a complication of liver echinococcosis

The aim of the research was to analyze the informativeness of diagnostic methods of investigation, the effectiveness of drug correction, determination of the volume of surgical treatment in patients with cirrhosis of the liver that developed on the background of echinococcosis with determination of the causes of lethality. The research is based on the results of treatment of 602 patients with hepatic echinococcosis operated in the clinic. The diagnosis of cirrhosis was established in 24 cases (3.98%). In the preoperative period the functional reserves of the liver were evaluated for prognosis of possible complications. Pre- and postoperative medication correction and minimization of operative risk improved treatment outcomes. Postoperative mortality in this group was 3 (12.5%), the cause of which was hepatorenal failure.
