Connections between type II DM and cardiovascular diseases
Keywords:
type II diabetes, cardiovascular diseasesAbstract
DM and cardiovascular pathologies are severe conditions, which have at their etiological and pathogenic basis a series of common factors that act in a complex manner. The recent study aimed to study clinical-paraclinical aspects of patients with DM type II associated with cardiovascular pathologies. According to the data obtained, most of the patients included in the study were over 60 years old, with a history of type II DM lasting more than 10 years, with the predominance of decompensated type II DM, with severe cardiovascular complications: acute coronary syndrome, arterial hipertension, sustained stroke, atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, supraventricular tachycardia, LAD stenosis, ventricular extrasystole, diabetic retinopathy, diabetic nephropathy, distal symmetric sensitive diabetic polyneuropathy. Both cardiovascular disease and DM can and should be prevented by controlling predisposing risk factors. Changing lifestyle habits (preventing or treating obesity, promoting physical activity, healthy eating, excluding smoking, reducing or remodeling the attitude towards chronic stress) is at the heart of the public health strategy for the prevention of cardiovascular diseases and DM.
