Tuberculosis and pathology of the gastro-intestinal tract

Among the chronic diseases accompanying pulmonary tuberculosis, diseases of the gastrointestinal tract occupy a central place. A bibliographic analysis of the scientific literature on the course of tuberculosis in patients with gastro-intestinal tract pathology published in the last 5 years was carried out, using the search portals ScienceDirect, Pubmed, Library Genesis, Medscape. The most common are: gastritis, gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer, duodenitis, tuberculosis. The combination of these diseases creates new complex conditions that complicate diagnosis and treatment. Symptoms of digestive organ dysfunction in patients with TB during treatment are usually interpreted as a side effect of antituberculosis drugs, which leads to late recognition of diseases of the digestive organs. The incidence of tuberculosis in patients with gastric and duodenal ulcers is 6-9 times higher, and the reverse sequence of diseases occurs 2-4 times more often than in the rest of the population. Patients with gastric and duodenal ulcers are considered individuals at increased risk of TB. Among these patients, pulmonary TB most often affects men between the ages of 30 and 50. In most patients, gastric ulcer and duodenitis precede pulmonary TB, but in 1/3 of them it develops against its background.
