Abstract

Polymorbidity is a heavy burden for both the patient and the healthcare system, as it affects the patient’s quality of life. In our study conducted on 50 patients hospitalized in internal medicine departments, it was proposed to assess the quality of life in relation to polymorbidity in patients hospitalized with somatic pathologies. Of the patients participating in the study, 98% had at least 2 pathologies, the average number of comorbidities is 4,66 ± 0,33. The average age was also important in the structure of polymorbidity. This article describes the structure of polymorbidity of patients hospitalized in internal medicine departments as well as the correlation with the quality of life. It has been observed that polymorbidity is indispensable in the practice of internists, it is very common. This phenomenon has a negative effect on the quality of life, as well as on the evolution of subsequent treatment.
