Abstract

Gallbladder polyposis is a relatively rare entity, with an incidence of 4-7%, elucidated quite succinctly in the specialized literature. Vesicular polyposis is still the subject of discussion in the specialized literature due to controversies regarding etiology, pathogenesis, diagnosis, and treatment. The preoperative diagnosis is carried out with the help of the routine ultrasonographic examination and is in some cases quite difficult, to simulate other diseases of the gallbladder. When definitively establishing the diagnosis of a polyp or vesicular polyposis, the most important role belongs to the morphological examination of the removed specimen. It is necessary to appreciate the role of immunohistochemical methods in establishing the diagnosis and possible malignancy. Currently, surgical intervention is considered the method of choice for the treatment and prophylaxis of malignancy of vesicular polyps. The purpose of the review was to improve the results of the treatment of patients with gallbladder polyposis based on the optimization of diagnostic tactics and surgical intervention. Keywords: gallbladder polyp, cholecystectomy, gallbladder.
