Abstract

The content of this work includes historical data and information related to the historical course and the merits of some illustrious teachers of the USMF Department of Ophthalmology «Nicolae Testemițanu». The Department of Ophthalmology was established in 1946, with a clinical base at the Republican Clinical Hospital. The first chief of the department was the university professor and habilitated doctor I. Kurlov, under whose leadership (1946-1959) many valuable ophthalmologists were trained. From 1959to 1965, professor A. Dobromaslov was at the head of the department. In the period 1978-1986, the department was chaired by a distinguished organizer of ophthalmological care in the Republic of Moldova - associate professor Dr.D.Lupan. During its existence, the Department of Ophthalmology of the State University of Medicine and Pharmacy «Nicolae Testemitanu » was and remains the school of ophthalmologists in the Republic of Moldova.
