The psychic pathologies and factors associated with tuberculosis

Patients with psychological patologies have an increased risk for tuberculosis. The aim of the study was to identify the types of the psychic pathologies and other factors associated with development of tuberculosis. A selective, analytical and retrospective study was conducted, which included 71 tuberculosis patients diagnosed psychic pathologies registered in the period 2015-2019. The results of the study established that the particularities of the patients were male sex (58 (81.7%) cases), age between 35 and 64 years (48 (67.9%) cases), low socio-economic status (67 (85.9%) cases), poor living conditions - 58 (81.7%) cases. The risk factors for acquiring the disease were the tuberculosis contact - 12 (16.9%) and associated pathologies, including TB/HIV co-infection in 11 (15.5%) cases. Pulmonary localization of tuberculosis predominated in 61 (85.9%) cases. Therapeutic success was established in only 37 (52.1%) cases and death occurred in 20 (28.1%).. The low success rate of tuberculosis treatment has shown that the treatment requires individualized according to the patient’s needs.
