This article provides a detailed analysis about the current status and trends shaping the development of medical tourism in the Republic of Moldova. According to international practice, the medical tourism is presently considered to be a strategic sector for developing countries. During the last 5 years, it was the tourism segment with the highest growth worldwide to contribute to Moldova’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Thus, Moldova would benefit from medical tourism development opportunities, offering lower cost prices, highly-qualified medical staff and large spectrum of touristic attractions than other European countries.
